Teddy
Meet Mr. Teddy, our Therapy Dog in training.

Teddy came to Rock Springs a couple of years ago as an “emergency” rescue. He has since found a home among us, adopting us as his new pack, and welcoming clients and colleagues to this place. When he is not at work, he lives in Virginia-Highland with our Executive Director David Harris and his wife, along with his older brother Buddy.

Teddy is a happy little guy, and while he is still learning how to be a fully trained therapy dog, he has nearly mastered the art of holding his peace when a stranger arrives instead of sounding the alarm. At this stage in his training, he knows how to sit, drop, leave, and stay, along with some very special words such as "treat," "cookie," and "bone." He also understands what "NO" means (most of the time).

He knows the names of his favorite toys (currently duck and hedgehog) and if he has met you before, will gladly greet you in the lobby and escort you to your appointment with his professional colleague. David Harris.

He loves to hop up on the sofa and flip upside down for a belly rub, but will usually sit in his brown chair and listen (or nap). He has a very special fondness for clients with cats, and as a good therapy dog, knows when someone needs comfort. Our clients call him their "furry therapist," and look forward to seeing him at their in-person appointments. Clients who meet via Zoom can rest assured that Teddy is close by, resting on the sofa or in his big brown chair.

Come visit with us and Teddy.

NOTE: If by chance you are allergic to dogs or have a fear of them, Teddy understands and will stay with a colleague during your visit. (By the way, he doesn’t shed but doesn’t hold it against other dogs that do!)
